Rate Tide Privacy Policy

Rate Tide is an app that shows remittance exchange rates and notifies you when a rate crosses a level you set. This policy explains what information the app and its server handle, why, and what choices you have. Rate Tide has no accounts: you never give us your name, email address, phone number or payment details.
What we collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or any information about money you send. The exchange rates the app shows are fetched by our server from public provider websites, not from your phone.
Advertising
Rate Tide is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK on your phone collects and shares with Google information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address (used to estimate your general location), app interactions with ads, and diagnostic data. Google may use this to show personalised ads where the law allows it.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).

Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. It is handled only by the services that make the app work:
- Fly.io hosts our server and database.
- Expo, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service deliver notifications.
- Google AdMob serves ads, as described above.
We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Security and retention
All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Your device secret is stored on the server only as a hash. Because there are no accounts, what we store is not linked to your name or contact details.
- Delete an alert in the app and it is removed from our server.
- Turn notifications off, or uninstall the app, and your push token stops working; our server erases it the next time a notification to it is refused.
- Uninstalling also removes the device ID from your phone, so nothing left on our server can be tied back to you.
Children
Rate Tide is meant for adults sending money and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
